Just so you don't think it's all rainbows and gumdrops, I thought I'd share this one with you.
I was picking the girls up from preschool yesterday, and it was all hugs and kisses and I missed you and love you and all that great stuff. After looking at all their projects for the day, and reading their activity board, and discussing their new topic Animals and how some of them hibernate and so on, it's finally time to get jackets on and head home. Lucy runs to the coat rack on the other side of the room and hollers across the room full of teachers and classmates, "Mom, how come at school you always smile and laugh and at home you are always mad?". Piper chimes in, "mmm...maybe because we don't listen and we fight and mom gets frustrated and she doesn't use her words". A teacher and I made eye contact as if to say "yep, that is exactly it my dear"!
Ah...Good Times!

"Firsts"
We've had a couple "Firsts" this week!
Lucille has made the upgrade from a 5 Point Harness Car Seat (for babies according her) to a Big Girl Booster Seat that she buckle & unbuckle all by herself!
Piper and Lucy laced up their skates and got on the ice for the first time! A lot of slipping and sliding, but with the help of mom, dad and a trusty 10 gallon bucket, they had a great time!

Where did 1,826 days go...
Good Morning Piper...Happy 5th Birthday Sweetheart!
It's 6am and as I gently kiss your forehead and smell your hair, I wonder...where did 1,826 days go?
On January 13, 2004 an angel came into our lives at 9:12pm. 7 pounds 12 ounces, 21 inches long.
I remember bringing you home from the hospital, and after all the visitors were gone, I sat down next to your father. The two of us just sitting there gazing into your bassinet. I starting crying in his arms because I was so over-joyed and so scared. It felt like the first day of school. I was so excited to ride the bus for the first time, meet my teacher, make new friends. I was also very afraid of getting lost, missing my mommy and not having anyone to sit by me at lunch.
I also remember telling myself to relish the time we have together and not to get too caught up in the future...what will she be when she grows up...will she play high school sports or be a cheerleader...who will she be when she's five...
Even with all the hustle and bustle of life, I have indeed relished the last five years, and I can tell you~
You are the brightest, kindest, most thoughtful - most beautiful five year old I know.
You have your dad's wit and determination ~ my compassion and we have the same scrunched eye brows when we are frustrated.
The little songs you sing while playing with your dolls or coloring are the most beautiful words I've ever heard.
I also love the way your eyes sparkle and your nose crinkles when you giggle.
I am so greatful to have you in my life Piper Susanne. You have given me a new view of the world - of life. Through the wonder of your eyes, the world is more colorful. Music is louder and dancing is silly and freeing.
I thought that there was meaning in my life before you came along, but Hell if I even knew the meaning of meaning. For the majority of my life I thought I had religion, but never has there been a more reverent moment in my life than walking into your room late at night to watch you breathe, to hear your life in the air. ~Heather B. Armstrong
I thank God each night for blessing us with such a precious gift and pray for just one more day...just one more.
Love,Mama
PS. My favorite thing is being your mommy, and don't ever forget it!

Princess Stories III
After reading a story about a Hog, we had a little talk about different names for animals.
Mouse is one, Mice is many.
Kitten is a baby, Cat is a grown up.
A baby pig is a piglet, a girl pig is a sow, a boy pig is a boar.
A baby deer is a fawn, a girl deer is a doe, a boy deer is buck.
Lucille, looked right at me and firmly said "and you, me and Piper are womanz!".

Driving along the other day, Piper was in the back seat explaining to Lucy:
"Grandmas are Grandmothers, Grandpas are Grandfathers, Moms are Mothers, Dads are Princes".
...Trent was grinning from ear to ear!
